Larry Elder Announces 2024 Presidential Campaign

by Ben Whedon

Former California gubernatorial candidate and radio host Larry Elder announced on Thursday he would seek the Republican nomination for president in 2024.

Elder made the announcement on Fox News’ “Tucker Carlson Tonight.”

“America is in decline, but this decline is not inevitable. We can enter a new American Golden Age, but we must choose a leader who can bring us there. That’s why I’m running for President,” he said in a statement.

In 2021, he ran unsuccessfully in a special recall election against California Democratic Gov. Gavin Newsom.

He will join former President Donald Trump, former U.N. Ambassador Nikki Haley, former Arkansas Gov. Asa Hutchinson, and tech mogul Vivek Ramaswamy in vying for the GOP nomination.

South Carolina Sen. Tim Scott has formed an exploratory committee to pursue his own campaign while Florida Republican Gov. Ron DeSantis has not declared his candidacy but is widely expected to do so.
